Food Research and Development Institute (FoodRDI) is a public institution for research - applied research that aims to present the scientific and technological progress to Bulgarian food industry. The Institute carries out research, consulting, training and disseminate knowledge and results that provide answers to general and specific issues relating to the operation of the food industry. FoodRDI created in 1962. It is currently an independent legal entity in the system of the Agricultural Academy, Sofia. It has qualified staff and modern laboratories: the Formulation and Design of Food - chilled, frozen, dried and sterilized; transfer of advanced technologies and new products; Sensory Testing of Consumers with Specific Focus Groups, Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Spectral Research and Food Physics. Integral part of the Institute is NATIONAL ACCREDITED LABORATORY FOR TESTING OF FOODS, BEVERAGES, WATER AND COSMETICS. The Institute actively participates in several international and national funding programs and projects (COST, INKO, 4th Framework Programme of the EU, 5th Framework Programme of the EU ,6th Framework Programme, peanut CRSP, US Agency for International Development USAID , a number of projects for the mobility of researchers with Ukraine, Romania, Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Italy, etc.).
